The plant species Pouteria glomerata belongs to the Sapotaceae family. From Mexico to the northeast of Argentina, it is scattered. Brazil, where it is known as abiurana-do-igapó, is where it is most common. It is an evergreen tree with light grey bark that can reach a height of 30 metres in its natural habitat, but it will likely reach considerably lower heights in drier, less fruitful environments. The tree’s edible fruits are taken from the wild. The 2.5–9 cm long, globose yellowish–pale brown fruit has a firm, knobby or smooth pericarp. The sweet fruit is primarily consumed fresh, is well-liked among locals, and has a taste reminiscent of Pouteria hypoglauca.
