A little tree in the myrtle family, the Yellow Strawberry Guava (Psidium Guajava) is indigenous to Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean, and northern South America. Guava has a distinct flavour that has been compared to papaya or a cross between a strawberry and a pear. Its delicate, luscious meat has a fragrant, musky scent.
Yellow Strawberry Guavas are small, round to oval fruits that range in size from 2 to 4 cm.
Fruit turning from green to yellow as it ripens. The flavour of strawberry guavas is floral, sweet, tart, fruity, and aromatic, evoking both strawberries and roses.
Fresh guavas are frequently consumed raw and can be cut and served with sugar and cream as a dessert. They are high in vitamins A, B, and C.
