The Otto Andersen collection at the Federal University of Viçosa (UFV) in Minas Gerais, Brazil, contains Plinia Coronata “Val-paraiso” Jaboticaba. The tree has a dense crown and an upright growth style. The 5-8 cm. long, glossy, lanceolate leaves with strong central veins and hardly perceptible lateral pinnate veins. The enormous subglobose fruit can reach a maximum diameter of 1 cm, has a thin skin, multiple medium-sized seeds, and a prominent crown at the apex. Its maximum diameter is 4 cm. The tree produces a lot of pulp, which is exceptionally sweet and flavorful.
