Ancient Indian sculptures from Central America and the West Indies show the unusual tropical fruits, including the Purple Sugar Apple/Annona Squamosa, which is thought to be native to those regions. The warmest areas of Florida’s southeast and southwest shores are home to Sugar Apples, which are common in tropical places all over the world. Indian horticulturists have studied the sugar apple extensively and have identified 10 distinct varieties that vary in colour, size, shape, and flavour. In addition to its exceptional flavour, the Purple cultivar is prized for its attractive landscape.
It has a thick, velvety rind made up of knobby segments that gives it the impression of scales. The scaly plate borders are accented with magenta along the surface’s dark bluish-purple appearance. The inside flesh is creamy white in colour with some purple undertones that is luscious and delectable. It disintegrates into fleshy, conical pieces that contain huge, delicious black seeds. The Purple Sugar Apple is soft enough to be split open with just your fingertips when fully ripe, and it emits a sweet, sugary aroma. It has berry-like undertones with a distinct vanilla custard finish, and its flavour is reminiscent of tropical fruits like mango and pineapple.
