In Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Paraguay, and Bolivia, you can find the medium-sized Talisia esculenta tree, which is native to the Amazon Basin. A semi-deciduous or evergreen tree, it can reach a height of 14 metres and a bole diameter of up to 40 cm. The rate of growth is average. Alternate and pinnately complex leaves cover its dense, spherical canopy. Paniculates bear the tiny, white flowers. The clusters of 10 to 20 brown to yellow, ellipsoidal, or spherical fruits each have one or two big seeds inside. When eaten fresh, the fruit’s juicy, translucent, sweet and sour-flavored pulp can be enjoyed uncooked. It is a brown-yellow fruit with this skin colour. The fruit is full of vitamins, and the leaves are frequently brewed into a tea that is used medicinally.
