Slow-growing Laranjinha Do Mato is a plant that is indigenous to southern and eastern Brazil in South America. It is a plant with a wide range of forms, from a semi-deciduous tiny shrub growing on poor, sandy soils along the coast to a tree 10 to 20 metres tall growing in pine woods. The plant is occasionally grown in backyard gardens, and the edible fruit is collected from the wild for consumption locally. Fruits are consumed raw or turned into jams. Its thin, meaty pulp has a flavour that is slightly sweet.
