Psidium and guavas A little tree belonging to the myrtle family by the name of guajava is indigenous to Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean, and northern South America. Guavas have a distinctive flavour and delicious pink flesh that has been compared to papaya or a hybrid between a pear and a strawberry. Its flesh is tender and juicy, and it has a fragrant, musky scent.
