The savannas of Central Brazil, Minas Gerais, and So Paulo are home to the tall, evergreen Eugenia sellowiana shrub, which is only branching at the base and has young, brownish branches. It grows to a height of 70 to 90 cm and typically forms tiny clusters. Simple, leathery, glabrous, gray-green in colour, 3-6 cm long, and with a very short petiole, the leaves are also brown-tomentose on the underside when young. Flowers typically appear in September or October and are axillary, white, and long-pedunculated (in the Southern Hemisphere).

Fruits have 1-3 loose seeds and are globose-flat, dense-tormentose, yellow, with thin skin, highly juicy pulp, and a delightful sweet-acidic flavour. Uses. Due of its rarity in the wild, it has not yet been cultivated. The fruits are used to make jellies, ice cream, and drinks that are enjoyed locally in nature.
