“Olho de Boi Selection” by Plinia A variety of Olho de Boi called Jaboticaba has larger and sweeter fruit than standard Olho de Boi (English: Eye of the Bull). The Jaboticaba tree is a native of mostly the states of So Paulo and Minas Gerais in Brazil, growing 3–10 metres tall with an elongated and dense crown. The fruit is the largest known Jaboticaba at this time (December 2021) with the largest documented fruit measuring 5 cm and typically generating fruit at 4 cm. When completely ripe, the glossy black, globose fruits taste sweet and have a distinct, light-colored crown at the top. Fruit production from seeds takes five to six years.
