Mountain Soursop/Annona Montana is a tiny, evergreen tree that is native to the West Indies, Peru, and Brazil and is grown in South America and the Philippines. It has an uneven, spreading crown. Trees bear after just two to three years and have huge, leathery green leaves that have a potent scent when crushed. It closely resembles soursop in appearance. The orange pulp of this fruit is exceedingly aromatic and contains light brown to orange seeds. The fruit is spherical, with yellowish skin covered with prickles. When fully ripe, they are eaten straight from the tree for dessert or blended with milk or ice cream to create a beverage.
Common Names: Custard apple, cherimoya, guanabana, soursop, and Brazilian paw.
