Large, evergreen trees with a dark green, spreading crown resembling an umbrella are the source of the Kolomb mango, renowned as the “lord of fruits.” One of the earliest cultivated plants in the world is the mango. It belongs to the family Anacardiaceae and is a kind of flowering plant. It is thought that the region between northwest Myanmar, Bangladesh, and India is where mangoes first appeared.

Unripe fruit is pounded into a powder and used as a flavour in Indian cuisine; it is a component of the spice blend.
