Brazilian states Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais, Goias, and Sao Paulo are home to the Jaboticaba Sabara/Plinia Cauliflora/Brazilian Grape tree, also known as Jabuticaba. In contrast to the conventional Jaboticaba, which can take up to 10 years to bear fruit, “Sabara” often bears fruit in 6+ years when given full light and appropriate fertilisation. The best part is that “Sabara” has three to four cycles of fruit and flowers each year. The fruit, which is shiny black and grows in clusters near to the woody stalks, has a pleasant pulp inside. The Brazilian grape is the common name for it. This hardy plant for containers produces excellent fruit.
