A medium-sized tropical to subtropical fruit tree native to Guatemala and Costa Rica, the green sapote (Pouteria Viridis) has juvenile branches covered in brown hairs. They are renowned for having smooth, lance-shaped edges. Mamey Sapote’s close relative is the Green Sapote.

The fruit is round to ovoid in shape, with flesh that is reddish pink, luscious, and creamy and has a flavour all its own that is reminiscent of Mamey sapote.

Green sapote comes in a wide range of variations. The fruit’s skin is tough and has a brownish green tint.

Vitamin A, calcium, iron, potassium, and magnesium are all abundant in green squash.
