An example of an evergreen, flowering plant is the feijoa, which belongs to the Myrtaceae family. Southerly Brazil, eastern Paraguay, Uruguay, northern Argentina, and Colombia all have highlands where it is native. It is commonly grown for both its fruit and as a decorative tree. It will grow to a height of 10 to 15 feet. The trees are both attractive and abundant, producing sweet, aromatic, delectable fruit that resembles guavas in both appearance and flavour. Raw pineapple guava is delicious. The creamy white inside is surrounded by a transparent pulp. Feijoa will tolerate some shade, but prefers full sun. Fruits must be produced under conditions of consistent soil moisture. To supply nutrients and shield the shallow roots, deeply and frequently water the area. Mulch is also recommended. Although it will withstand a variety of less-than-ideal soils, from sand to heavy clay, it also prefers wet, well-drained soil. It produces the most blooms and fruits in full sun, but it will still thrive in some shade.
