The only widely farmed wild durian species is Durio kutejensis. Local durian authorities speculate that this may be the durian most suited to individuals inexperienced with durian or who just cannot handle the typical durian stench because of its nice fruity aroma. It is usually little, with the heaviest fruit weighing less than 1 kilogramme. The flesh has a variety of colours, from a soft orange-yellow to a deep, sunset crimson, and is dry and slightly waxy. It absolutely lacks the savoury, oniony flavour that some people find repulsive. It had a mild, delicious strawberry-mango flavour that reminded some people of an avocado that had been artificially flavoured with a tropical gummy bear.
