A highly attractive flowering deciduous tree that may reach a height of 16 metres, Cordia dodecandra typically has a large crown and a short bole. Locals enjoy the palatable fruit, which they pick in the wild. The tree’s edible fruit is another reason why it is locally and partially farmed in its native region. Fruits are typically consumed raw, and the sweet, slightly acidic flesh is regarded as a delicacy by the locals. It is also highly regarded for use in preserves. The ovoid, light yellow fruit has a diameter of around 5 cm.
