The extremely rare Yara Yara tree, also known as Duguetia Lepidota, grows in lowland rainforests in Venezuela, Colombia, Suriname, and neighbouring Brazil. This relative of the cherimoya produces an absolutely stunning fruit that is not only edible but also unquestionably the best-tasting Duguetia on the market. The fruits have a globular shape and are roughly the size of an apple. They have a highly pigmented skin that is covered in numerous projecting scales that are a dark red colour. The brilliantly yellow to crimson, delicious flesh has been compared to apricots with hints of jackfruit. Although Duguetia Lepidota has not yet been domesticated, it will become a fascinating fruit tree for tropical areas.
