The evergreen tree known as the “Wooly Leafed Sapote” (Casimiroa Tetrameria) has a rounded crown and broad, light-colored limbs. It is identical to the white sapote in terms of fruit flavour and development, typically reaching heights of up to 9 metres. The wooly-leaved sapote has leaves that are densely covered in white fur on the underside, which is the primary visual distinction between the two plants. Its edible fruit is collected from the wild, and the tree is also grown for this fruit. Fruits can be roasted, dried for later use, eaten raw out of hand, cooled and served in a fruit salad, and more. The solid, golden-yellow pulp of the ripe fruits has a sweet, delectable, peppery flavour.
