In regions of Southeast Asia, Thailand, and Malaysia, an evergreen fruit tree known as the White Rambai, or Baccaurea Motleyana, flourishes in the wild. Fruit is virtually spherical and becomes brownish-yellow without splitting when it is mature. Each seed has a delicious, sweet-tasting aril covering that ranges in colour from translucent white to purple. The plant’s flowers grow in protracted clusters on the branches or trunk.

Planting and Care

Rambai plants enjoy a well drained, general potting mix, the tree requires 80-100% sunlight and young plants should be brought indoors during winters.

Good source of vitamins, minerals, and fibers, and they also contain bioactive compounds such as phenolic acids, flavonoids, carotenoids, and terpenes.

Uses/Benefits

The pulp is sweet to acid in taste. The tree is also used for shade and low-quality wood. The ripe fruit is consumed fresh and can be processed into juice, jams, organic vinegar, and wine. Its bark are used to treat stomach and eye diseases, respectively.
