The medium-sized Emperor’s Fruit is a native of the Atlantic Forest. It has enormous, decorative leaves (50–60 cm) with serrated edges that make it stand out wherever it is seen. It yields fruits that range in size from 2.5 to 6 cm, are globose and flattened at the ends, have smooth skin, and range in colour from yellow to orange. Although its fruits are delicious and well-liked, it is also used as an adornment. When young, the plant can be used as inside décor if it is kept in vases with some shade.
