A tropical summer fruit known as the Sweet Kokum Fruit (Garcinia Indica) can be found in India around the Western Ghats.
The small, spherical fruit is red when it is on the tree and has a sharp, sour flavour. However, when it is mature and dried, it becomes a deep purple colour that almost looks black. Kokum peels that have been dried have an oddly pleasant scent and are quite sour and metallic.
Vitamins A, B3, and C, as well as minerals like calcium, iron, manganese, potassium, and zinc, are all abundant in kokum, which is also high in nutrition. Additionally, it has a healthy quantity of fibre, ascorbic acid, acetic acid, and hydroxycitric acid.
