The Annonaceae family includes the edible fruit and herb Soncoya Fruit/Annona Purpurea. Mexico, Central America, and some regions of South America are its natural habitats.
When ripe, the fruit has a felt-like brown skin that is spherical, broad, and difficult to break open. The fruit’s exterior bears protrusion that resemble hooks. It contains several seeds, whose germination times range from one to six months. Trees can be planted in containers and require one to three years to bear fruit. The cherimoya, the sugar apple, and other Annona species are all closely related to this species. The fruit of the soncoya, one of the Annonas, is of mediocre quality and has not attracted widespread cultivation. Some people may characterise the fruit’s texture as stringy or fibrous; it is similar to that of a soursop.
