The Sherbet Tree is a small to medium-sized dry deciduous tree that is native to forests in Mozambique and eastern South Africa. It has pinnate leaves that form a dense, rounded crown. It also has terminal, compact inflorescences that contain small, yellowish-white flowers and edible, brown fruits that are said to have a sherbet-like flavour. It is highly valued for its reddish colour, hardness, weight, and termite resistance. Although it can be suited for almost frost-free subtropical areas, the tree is susceptible to freezes.
