The Ridan Fruit, also known as Salacca Affinis, is indigenous to Singapore, Borneo, Sumatra, and the Malay Peninsula. The gorgeous, delicious fruit of this uncommon shrub is what attracts most gardeners. Near the centre of each plant, the stunning, red, spindle-shaped fruits covered in snakeskin are produced. They are difficult to handle without gloves, but the effort is well worth it because they are somewhat tart, sweet, juicy, and aromatic.
