A tropical tree called the Star Apple Fruit (Chrysophyllum Cainito) produces eatable fruits. When mature, star apples have a spherical shape and a two to four inch diameter. It has smooth, leathery skin that ranges in colour from purple to red to yellow to green, depending on the variety.
The flavour of red star apples is aromatic, sweet, and delightfully tropical with hints of persimmon, lychee, and apple. It has smooth, shiny red skin and is about the size of an apple.
Star apple fruit pulp has been used to treat sore throats and lessen the inflammation linked to pneumonia and laryngitis. It also includes a reasonable amount of calcium, phosphorus, and phytochemicals called ALA antioxidants, which assist to prevent some malignancies and support a healthy immune system. The seeds can be used as a diuretic and tonic after being powdered.
