Due to the slightly pinkish hue and curved shape of the meat inside the shell, which reminded Penang’s sea food enthusiasts of the giant shrimp red prawn, the durian is known as the “Red Prawn.” It is no accident that the red prawns from the sea are equally pricey as those from the trees. The flesh of Red Prawn durians, which contains small to medium-sized seeds, is recognised for being creamy, sticky, smooth, and fiberless. The taste of the meat is fermented, sweet, fruity, with hints of red wine, berries, and chocolate.
