The evergreen Pouteria sp. Espiritosancti is a very uncommon Sapotaceae plant. The native habitat of this Pouteria species is Espirito Santo State. One of the Pouteria species with the best flavour and one of the most ornamental features is thought to be this one. The edible fruits are harvested from the wild for local consumption. They may be eaten raw and have a flavour similar to a ripe banana with a hint of condensed milk. This Pouteria produces fruits with relatively thin skin and almost no latex. It has a shelf life of 7-8 days.
