The pomegranate is a deciduous shrub that bears fruit and belongs to the Punicoideae subfamily of the Lythraceae family. Its height ranges from 5 to 10 metres. The Mediterranean region is where the pomegranate was first mentioned. One of the world’s most cost-effective useful crops is this one. Pomegranates are grown extensively on a commercial basis in all climatic zones due to their excellent profitability and wide range of ecological adaptability (temperate, tropical, and subtropical climates). Pomegranate fruit production, marketing, and consumption are all on the rise globally, mostly as a result of increased knowledge of its health benefits. Similar to cranberries in flavour, pomegranate arils are somewhat sour with a hint of sweetness. The pomegranate fruit contains therapeutic qualities like anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects. Breast and skin cancers are inhibited by pomegranate seed oil.
