Up to 5 m tall, Eugenia repanda is an evergreen shrub or tree. They originated in South America, specifically in southern and eastern Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay. The tree is occasionally cut down in the wild and used locally as food and a supply of wood. The subglobose, yellow-red fruit has a maximum diameter of 10mm. Typically, people consume the sweet, meaty fruits either fresh or cooked into jam or jelly. They can thrive in both the direct sun and the dappled shade of a forest.
