Lecythis zabucajo, often known as the sapucaia or paradise nut, is a sizable deciduous tree that can reach a height of 30 metres. Native to northern Brazil in Western South America. For personal use and for sale in markets, people collect the edible wild seeds. Raw seeds can be consumed. They resemble Brazil nuts in terms of size and shape. The ivory-white kernels have a delectable flavour and a delicate, almost creamy texture when fully mature. The seeds are thought to have a greater flavour, be simpler to digest, and be sweeter than Brazil nuts. It is a particularly nutrient-dense seed, with 20% protein and roughly 63% oil or fat.
