Fine leafed cherry, sometimes known as Eugenia angustissima, is a flowering shrub of the Myrtaceae family. It is mostly found in the Cerrado and Caatinga regions of Bolivia, Paraguay, and Brazil, where it is native. It has very long, narrow leaves with a reddish petiole that are glossy above and lighter on the back. When completely ripe, the 10-15 mm oval or piriform fruits change colour from yellow to orange to crimson to finally black. The flavour is delightful and really sweet. It also makes a stunning garden ornamental plant.
