Every year, it bears fruit, yielding up to 50 to 75 kg of edible fruits that may be consumed raw by both people and animals. Humans consume the pericarp of the fruit and the chesnut-like seeds. You can consume the seeds roasted, cooked, or raw. They have a potato-like flavour.
