The evergreen Marmelinho tree, which typically grows at low elevations, is found throughout much of South America, all the way down to Uruguay and Argentina. The sweet and eatable fruits can be consumed simple or turned into a liquor. It grows well in mild temperate and tropical areas and is also a highly attractive tree.
