The maripa palm, also known as attalea maripa, is a species of palm that is indigenous to Trinidad and Tobago and tropical South America. It is an evergreen, single-stemmed palm with a height range of 7 to 24 metres. The tree is widely cultivated in regions of South America and has a variety of purposes. At particular, the region of the Amazon is known for its edible fruits, which are frequently available for purchase in local markets. The seed is consumed as well. Up to 5 cm long, the fruits have a sweet, flavorful pulp that is practically fiberless and juicy.
