Eugenia Reinwardtiana, aka Manila Tennis Ball Cherry, is an Australian native. It also grows in the tropical rainforests of Indonesia, the Pacific Islands, and Hawaii. This fruit is regarded as one of the best-tasting in Australia. The Lily Pilly Berry and the Manila Cherry are both members of the Myrtaceae family. These cherries have a rounder shape and grow as shrubs or small trees. White blooms appear before the fruits and are supported by stems that are tucked in between pairs of dark green, oval to elliptic leaves. The cherry’s smooth, red-hued external skin is smooth. Its luscious, velvety flesh encloses a pit that resembles a cherry. It tastes lovely sweet with berry and grape undertones.
