Mammee apple Live Plant (Mammea americana)

The Calophyllaceae family includes the mammee apple tree, which has dense, bright green, columnar branches and a short, short-bolted trunk. It is also referred to as South American apricot, Santo Domingo apricot, mammee, mammee apple, mamey, mamey apple, and tropical apricot. The plant is commonly grown across the tropics, especially in backyards, for its tasty fruit. Its dark-green, glossy leaves and dense foliage also make it a lovely aesthetic tree. The fruit’s firm, thick flesh has a flavoursome aroma that is reminiscent of apricots. This fruit is wonderful and is used as a treat as well as in jams, sauces, pies, tarts, and other baked goods. A liqueur is made from the aromatic blooms, and an alcoholic beverage is made by fermenting the tree sap.
