A member of the Clusiaceae family, the Madan Fruit Tree (Garcinia Schomburgkiana) is also known as Ma-dan in Thai. For local consumption, edible fruits and leaves are collected from the wild. The limbs of the most wild tree are covered in delicate pink, small, waxy blooms. In gardens and yards throughout central and southern Thailand, the plant is raised for its fruit and leaves.
At maturity, the fruits are ovate to rectangular, long, wide, glossy green, and have a tart flavour.
The fruit is high in calcium and vitamin A.
