Kei Apple is a small to medium-sized spiky, beautiful, evergreen shrub or tree with a dense crown that can grow up to 8 metres tall. It is indigenous to Southern Africa, namely Zimbabwe. It will thrive in either full sun or mild shade, and regular trimming will be necessary to keep a nice hedge. The plant is extensively planted as a hedge plant and for its edible fruit in warm, temperate to tropical gardens all over the world. The spherical, bright yellow fruit has a diameter of up to 4 cm.
