A robust climbing shrub with many branches, Sarcostigma kleinii can grow stems up to 26 metres long and 8 cm thick. Native to Southeast Asia, including Indonesia, Malaya, Vietnam, Myanmar, and the Andaman Islands When in bloom, the plant, which is typically evergreen, may go without leaves. The plant is taken out of the wild and used locally as food, medicine, and an oil source. In India, the oil is a widely used remedy for rheumatism. Raw fruit can be consumed. Around the lone seed lies a thin layer of sweet-tasting pulp. In Ayurveda, this herb is commonly utilised.
