A fast-growing, medium- to large-sized, evergreen tree native to northern Australia, Antidesma dallachyanum has simple leaves and clusters of ripe edible fruit that become black when ripe and are sweet with pleasing acidity. As far as Antidesma species go, it has some of the tastiest fruit. It produces thousands of tiny, crimson fruits, similar to bignays but usually with more flesh. They can be consumed raw or used to make jams and juices. The ideal climate for the tree is tropical or frost-free warm temperate, with plenty of moisture and good light.
