Protium serratum is a small to medium-sized tree species that is evergreen or briefly deciduous and belongs to the family Burseraceae. It can reach a height of 30 metres. Bole is not long. It is a fruit that grows wild in warmer climates. Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal are among the Indian states where it grows. Along with southern China, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam, it also grows there. The tree is taken out of the wild and used locally as food, medicine, and wood. Fruits can be consumed fresh or turned into chutney.
