Fast-growing evergreen Campomanesia schlechtendaliana has a 20–30 cm grooved bole and a 15 m pyramidal crown. The species is native to southeast Brazil’s Atlantic Forest. They develop flattened globular, wrinkled, yellowish-green fruits with a high percentage (more than 70% by weight) of delicious sweet-sour pulp and tiny seeds that grow quickly in full or partial sunlight. The fruits have a 3 cm diameter and a top sepal with five petals that can be removed with ease. In the northern hemisphere, the fruit matures in the summer (July–August), while in the southern hemisphere it happens in January–February.
