From tropical Africa to northern South Africa, Swaziland, Madagascar, India, Sri Lanka, Indo-China, Indonesia, and China are all places where it can be found. Flacourtia indica, often referred to as the Governor’s Plum, Indian Plum, Madagascar Plum, and Ramontchi In tropical areas, this fruit is grown as a hedge plant and for its small, acidic, deep-red fruits that resemble small plums.

The leaves and roots are used in herbal medicine to cure snakebites. The bark is thought to be able to treat arthritis. The majority of the plant’s constituents are used to treat cough, pneumonia, and bacterial throat infections. It has also been used to treat diarrhoea.
