A medium-sized tree species in the Clusiaceae family, Garcinia spicata grows to a height of 30 feet. It is native to Sri Lanka and India. It’s a fascinating Garcinia, mostly grown for its eye-catching, glossy foliage and vibrant fruits. The fruit that the tree produces is tasty and has been compared to durian in flavour. It is also known as bitter garcinia or garlic fruit. For best ripeness, the fruit should be harvested after it has fallen from the tree. It smells and tastes too strongly of garlic since it was picked too early. Although it is sweet and has a faint garlic flavour, the flavour is actually not too horrible.
