The Amazon rainforest is home to the uncommon Garcinia species known as Amazonia. The fruit has a little nipple on the underside and is often spherical. The fruit has a diameter of 5–6 cm, a length of 6-7 cm, and a significant amount of lemony, sweet flesh inside. Although it is not known if it is dioecious, most Garcinias are, thus it probably is. Its apomictic nature is likewise unknown. The thick, yellowish rind allows for a long holding period after picking.
