A rare, slowly growing plant called Eugenia itapemirimensis is native to the northern littoral of Bahia in Brazil’s Atlantic woodland. The plant is occasionally grown in backyard gardens, and the edible fruit is collected from the wild for consumption locally. Fruits are consumed raw or turned into jams. Its delicate, meaty pulp has a flavour that is just a little bit sweet.
