Pitaya, often known as dragon fruit, is a fruit that originated in South America. This fruit is referred to as “dragon fruit” because its skin resembles dragon scales. One of the red dragon fruit variations is the purple dragon fruit, or Hylocereus polyrhizus. Being a cactus, it enjoys heat and sunlight. It is best to grow it in a dry, sunny location.
A great source of fibre and loaded with beneficial vitamins and minerals is dragon fruit. The dragon fruit plant, which is actually a climbing cactus, requires a support system to climb, and as it gets older, it usually produces aerial roots from the branches.
