Garcinia Aristata, the Cuban Mangosteen, is a short tree related to the mangosteen that produces tiny orange-yellow fruits with delicate content. It is one of a few number of Garcinias that thrive on the sandy soil with a high pH at our property in southwest Florida. Its incredibly attractive leaf, which has a stiff, painful-to-touch needle-like point, is its distinctive identifying feature. The fruit flavour can be compared to a combination of Garcinia intermedia and Garcinia livingstonei because it is sweet with little acidity. The flavour profile is dominated by subdued citrus notes.
