An evergreen shrub or tiny tree belonging to the Meliaceae family is called Aglaia elaeagnoidea. It often grows between 5 and 10 metres tall, but seldom beyond 20 metres. E. Asia, including India, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, New Guinea, Australia, and the western Pacific, is where it is indigenous. The tree is cut down in the wild for its timber and its locally consumed edible fruits. The fruit has up to two seeds and can be up to 20mm long and 15mm wide. You can consume the thin, white, gelatinous meat surrounding the seed raw. It tastes deliciously sweet and acidic.
