A brand-new and extremely rare medium-sized banana called Musa itinerans is grown in Taiwan’s northern tropical highland forests, at an altitude of 450 metres. The longer inflorescence rachis and more compact fruit hands are the key differences between it and Musa itinerans var. formosana. Warm temperate and tropical conditions in USDA Zones 10 and above are most suited for its cultivation. It is a very distinctive and vibrant banana with iridescent pink, purple, and blue fruits. The 4-6″-long fruits grow in attractive clusters. They are frequently prepared and utilised in Thai cuisine.
